New Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Institute
Providing specialized care for the challenges facing Israeli women's health

The Gynecological and Obstetrical Ultrasound Institute provides services in various OB-GYN subspecialties, including obstetrics, gynecology, and assisted reproductive therapy. These include routine pregnancy scans, lifesaving intrauterine blood transfusions, imaging to detect suspected tumors of the reproductive organs, fetal echocardiography, nuchal translucency testing, fetal anatomy scans for high-risk pregnancies (including multiple pregnancies), Doppler ultrasound to check blood flow to the fetus, and other tests. In addition, invasive genetic procedures, such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling, are performed.
The institute is involved in diagnostic testing and follow-up in the most complex cases in southern Israel. In light of the rapid population growth and the exceptionally large number of births in the Negev, including high-risk pregnancies that require continuous follow-up at the hospital, we anticipate that the volume of activity will continue to increase.
Every year, 16,000 procedures are performed at the Gynecological and Obstetrical Ultrasound Institute, and in the last decade, the scope of activity has increased by approximately 40%. The Gynecological and Obstetrical Ultrasound Unit has been operating in its current location for many decades.
The old facility was crowded and lacked important elements, such as a recovery room for women who undergo interventional procedures. Patients currently have little privacy, and there are no private dressing rooms.
In order to provide critically important services to the Negev population in a manner that meets the highest international standards and prioritizes patients’ privacy and well-being, we have recently completed a new state-of-the-art facility that accommodates the region’s growing population and high birth rate. It includes the following:
- Large examination rooms equipped with the latest technology, suitable for providing cutting-edge, patient-oriented medical care
- Additional examination rooms
- Accessibility for physically disabled patients and family members
- A private dressing area in each examination room
- A designated procedure room for invasive tests
- An upgraded waiting room for patients and those accompanying them
The facility covers an area of approximately 380 square meters.
